I was a bit worried about the direction of this episode at first, as it seemed to be a mash up of several plots from previous episodes. It takes elements from Lesson Zero, Filli Vanilli and several prior CMC episodes as well. However I think this all works for the better, as all these elements work together to tell a similar story that works as a conflict for the CMC to go through, although as several analysts have pointed out, this is more of an Applebloom episode than it is the CMC as a whole, since Applebloom goes through the central conflict of the episode.
Many bronies have speculated where the CMC will go from here now that they have their cutie marks. They aren't characters that are just going to stop developing now that they have found their talents, as there is much story potential with helping others find their marks as well! However as this episode establishes, cutie mark problems are not going to spring up every day of their lives. Sometimes they just have to focus on what makes them happy as individuals, rather than being a single entity as a group.
When we consider how much time Applebloom has spent on focusing her hobbies with her friends in order to obtain her cutie mark, it's understandable how she would feel quite empty now that she has to spend time alone. I do question how much she is inclined to think she would never be able to hang out with her friends again, as I thought Applejack as supposed to be the paranoid one. Hasn't she enjoyed time with her family before, especially Applejack? What is there to suggest that it's impossible to find help with Cutie mark problems with her friends and do other things separately on different days?
This is a kind of characterisation that is established well in the moment by all the expressions that Applebloom shows, as well as her own song, even if it isn't entirely backed up by history. But yet again Dave Polski seems to recognise this half way through, then take another left turn to show that he hasn't forgotten everything that the CMCs are already good at.
Tender Taps is a fairly flat character, but once again seems to serve a good purpose for the plot, and isn't inherently a bad character just for facing a similar conflict to how Fluttershy did in Filli Vanilli. After all, it would be more unrealistic to say that common fears can only ever be applied to one character with one particular conflict. Plus I find it adds another unique message that failing upon your first few tries at a new task isn't actually a bad thing; it is instead an opportunity to keep practising and get better.
So this episode seems to be a bit of a mixed bag with the number of plots sown together and how much is stuffed in there, but it's still enjoyable and effective when Dave Polski manages to use this patchwork of an episode to build on development and still make me want to see what more the CMCs can achieve as they grow up. Applejack episodes usually tend to be the simpler episodes, even by slice of life format, which is not by any means a bad thing, it just means we have to set our expectations to a more mundane story that may not have fantasy heavy elements like the other members of the Mane Six will have. We know how AJ and Big mac are the two ponies who handle the vast majority of work around the farm, and so it is to be expected that with such a dedicated work ethic, AJ is a pony who very much comes off as a workaholic. This can be good, but it can also be unhealthy, although it seems to be that Rarity is wanting AJ to relax more out of her own desires to s

After the bore fest for me that was the previous episode, I am so glad to see another comedic episode of MLP get things right back on track! With Rarity's perfectionism, she is prone to perhaps be a little too picky with how her work space environment would be, leading to perhaps a bit of a nightmare when it comes to doing up her new shop in an effort to make it presentable on its opening day.
This could have easily turned into a Ponyville Confidential 2.0, but the framing device of a review based on interviews from the Mane Six is more of a method of setting up the comedy, contrasting Rarity's expectations with how each of the Mane Six expr

Anyone who knows me knows that I am a big Rainbow Dash fanboy. She has by far and away gotten the most development over the course of the show, which often directly ties in to how she makes the Wonderbolts better through her own moral code.
However Newbie Dash was a big step backwards in terms of this overall development. But honestly? It mostly isn't Dash's fault. The Wonderbolts simply are reverting to Rainbow Falls level of mean spiritedness! The key moment that sent this episode on a Downward spiral was Dash's flashback to her childhood where she was teased mercilessly as "Rainbow Crash".
The fact that even the teacher was laughing only

This is an episode that gives me mixed feelings. In principle, I like that Trixie is getting more development while acknowledging how both her and Starlight have reputations that people don't forget so easily. This kind of continuity makes the setting believable on a basic level, while also giving characters room to grow beyond basic archetypes. We can be re-assured that even with a general reformation of morals and ideals doesn't consist entirely of a face heel turn. We have seen through Discord that, even with a general positive attitude towards friendship as opposed to selfishness, a God of Chaos is still going to be a massive prankster wh

I think its on the mind that Applebloom friends are the most she hangs out with. Applejack and the applefamily has there own things to do most of the time and she could only do potions stuff for so long and Zecora is probably very busy as well.
